State High School Hockey championship games were late last week. Even though Spencer's a freshman he had the opportunity to play in the last varsity game. It was a heart breaker for our team. Lousy tournament planning, poor referee calls and serious hockey "hit 'em hard" to win mentality (one of Spencer's friends was hit so hard he shattered his collar bone!). I'm not biased or anything, but we were supposed to be the team to beat. Usually I consider myself a pretty mild sports fan. I'm learning that I have more of my father's genes in me than previously suspected...watching games elevates my blood pressure and I can hardly sit in my seat. It's crazy and we are just beginning the journey to high school athletics. All I can say is that I'm glad Spencer is able to keep his head in the game and that he's skilled enough to be able to play. That's worth more than winning.
